Forget peanut butter, Nutella, or any other spread—once you have apple butter, you’ll never want to put anything else on your toast. Creamy, velvety, and sweet, this apple butter features all the fabulous flavors of fall and can be eaten on toast or spread on biscuits.

Ingredients:

  • 5 pounds apples
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Peel and core the apples, then slice them into quarters.  Cut them smaller if they are really big.
  2. Place the apple slices in a slow cooker and cook for 6-8 hours, stirring every couple of hours.
  3. Once cooked, blend the softened apples with the sugar, vanilla, and spices.
  4. Spoon into jars and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week; or freeze for up to a year.
