Thank heavens for spreads. If not, what would we put on our toasts? Whether you’re a big fan of jam, peanut butter, or guacamole, you can’t go wrong with a delicious spread for breakfast or lunch. If you ask us, one of the best spreads you could ask for is tuna. But making it to perfection is easier said than done and making it incorrectly can often ruin a tuna toast or tuna salad. Here are a few tips for optimizing your tuna spread.

The Perfect Mayo Balance

A major part of making your tuna spread perfect is how much mayonnaise you put in. Unfortunately, everyone has different opinions over how much that is. If you ask us, there should be enough mayo that it gives the spread its creaminess, but not too much that it loses its density. In order to put the right amount, start small and slowly work your way up until the balance is perfect.

The Perfect Seasonings

It’s important to not overdo it when it comes to tuna seasonings. The classic ones to go with here are salt and pepper, which you should also start slow with before building on it. After the salt and pepper, we recommend going lightly on anything, but it’s really up to you. The key is moderation because your seasonings are just there to enhance the tuna—not take it over.
