Some dishes taste even better after a day or two when you reheat them, but that’s not the case with mashed potatoes. Most potato dishes tend to change texture and taste after being left for a while, and it’s not always easy to figure out how to make them tasty again. This is especially difficult with mashed potatoes, but we have one way to reheat them that you’re going to love.

How It’s Done

Since mashed potatoes tend to get dry when cold, you’re going to need to add a bit more liquid to them. The easiest method is to reheat a single serving in the microwave. Start by putting the old mashed potatoes in a bowl and add a tablespoon of butter. Add a little bit of milk or whatever liquid you typically use.

Let it heat up on a high setting for 20 seconds, then take it out and stir. Add some more liquid, and heat again. Repeat this process a few more times until you get the creamy consistency that mimics the freshly made batch of mashed potatoes.

Doing this will help you waste less food and give you a quick dinner in under ten minutes. Leftovers can often save the day when you don’t have much time—wouldn’t you agree?
