Looking to have a little bit of something sweet with your afternoon tea? Or maybe just a quick cake to pair with your morning coffee? Then look no further than this poppy seed roll with raisins.
This roll checks out all the boxes, being a delicious treat while also not requiring much effort in the kitchen. Here is how to make it.
Ingredients:
- 6 sheets of phyllo dough
- 2 cups ground poppy seeds
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- Olive oil
Instructions:
- First, make the filling. Mix ground poppy seeds, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a bowl. Give it a good mix until the poppy seeds and sugar seem evenly distributed.
- Stack two phyllo dough sheets on top of each other. Spread 1/3 of sour cream on top of it and add 1/3 of poppy seeds and sugar mixture and 1/3 of raisings. Make a roll.
- Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients in the same way.
- Stack the rolls onto a baking tray that you previously brushed with olive oil. Brush some olive oil on the rolls as well and then pop them into a preheated oven at 350F. Bake for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle the rolls with powdered sugar and enjoy.
