These Fruits That are Even Better Frozen

In case you haven’t noticed, it’s pretty warm outside! On days like these, even salad feels too hot to consume. We’re used to eating most fruits at room temperature or hot from the pot, but here are some that actually taste even better when they’re frozen.

Grapes

If you’ve never had frozen grapes before, you’re missing out. Popping these babies in the freezer (we recommend green over red) not only makes them sweeter, but it transforms their texture into something that resembles sorbet.

Avocados

Avocados are loved for their soft, creamy texture, but trust us, they’re just as delicious—if not more so—frozen. Slice your avo, drizzle with lemon juice, a pinch of salt, and some chili powder, and place them in the freezer for four hours. You can thank us later.

Pineapple

Tart is a good way to describe a pineapple as the fruit usually has a good amount of acidity coupled with its sweetness. If that flavor profile tends to put you off, try freezing a few chunks. The cold temperature breaks down the acid, leaving lovely sweetness behind!

Bananas

Once frozen, bananas become cold and creamy. Something else that’s cold and creamy? Ice cream! Peel and slice your banana before freezing them and enjoy how much the texture reminds you of gelato. If you want to indulge even more, dip the frozen slices into melted chocolate. You’re welcome.
