Hot chocolate bombs are one of the leading food trends in the world right now, but making them is easier said than done. There are countless tutorials online teaching you how to make your own, but they won’t look that great if you end up making these common mistakes.

Mold Choice

If your molds are too small, you won’t be able to fit all the ingredients, but the larger ones will give you fewer hot chocolate bombs. That’s why you should aim for silicone molds that are about 2.5 inches wide and make sure they’re flexible enough.

Melting the Chocolate

The way you’re melting the chocolate can make or break your hot chocolate bombs. Replace chocolate chips with candy melts if possible, and melt them on slow fire instead of using the microwave. Make sure you’re filling the mold evenly, and get a nice, thick layer so your orbs wouldn’t end up breaking.

Sealing the Bombs

You can seal your hot chocolate bombs by using the hot plate to melt the edges. When it comes to this step, it’s important to remember that the thin orbs can easily melt when you hold them in your hands, so it’s a good idea to wash your hands with cold water and use silicone gloves.
