The World’s Most Remote Michelin-Starred Restaurant is Becoming Even More So

How far would you be willing to travel to dine at a top restaurant? That’s the question that KOKS is asking once again of its patrons.

The establishment already holds a unique award in that it is the most remote Michelin-starred restaurant in the world. Located in the 18-island archipelago between Iceland and Scotland that is known as the Faroe Islands, KOKS is now set to move even further!

The fine-dining eatery has been around since 2011 and is renowned for its tasting menu that consists of a jaw-dropping 17 courses (no pun intended). The restaurant has nine chefs, each of whom is from a different country.

In 2017, KOKS was awarded a prestigious Michelin star and received a second two years later. The honor has seen foodies from across the globe make their way to Leynavatn to try the food, but they will now need to head 1,300 miles further north as the restaurant is moving to a 53-person town in Greenland for the summer.

The relocation is due to head chef Poul Andrias Ziska taking over the restaurant at Ilimanaq Lodge for the 2022 and 2023 summer seasons. The move will see the culinary master taking inspiration from the new surroundings by including ingredients such as seal and other wild game on the menu.
