The Perks to Cooking With Your Kids

Parenting is a full-time job, especially while attempting to balance all other aspects of your life with it. One very common example of this is when you’re home alone with the kids and need to watch them—and cook dinner for them too. The thing is, there’s actually a pretty simple solution that kills two birds with one stone: cook with your kids! Here are a few reasons why this is a good idea.

Safety First

Before we get into it, we’ll first state plainly that safety is obviously the number one concern. Before even venturing to cook with your children, a strict disclaimer is noted that this is assuming there are no knives around and that they’re not in a position to hurt themselves.

Increase Their Confidence

It’s not easy being a child, growing up in a world that requires so much of you. You might think that they don’t have what it takes to cook with you. You might think you’re doing them a favor by doing it all yourself. But even giving them the smallest and easiest task, such as cracking an egg, can boost their confidence more than you can even imagine.

Bond With Them

Another aspect of cooking with your child is the idea that it provides a great bonding moment for the two of you. Instead of this “you doing something for them” mentality, it can be “we’re doing this together”. You’re still their parent, but you’re on this life journey together and now you’re closer than you were before.
