As hard as you try and keep your dieting habits in check, that scale continues to read the same amount. But why is that? Is there something about your daily habits that you’re missing? Well, we’re not here to say that you’re not on top of things. On the contrary, what we’re about to say is relevant to everyone, no matter what their dieting habits are. Everyone knows that sugar is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to gaining weight and yet so many of us forget about the two places where it shows up the most.

Hot Drinks

One of the most common parts of our daily lives, whether we work at an office or work from home, walk over to the kitchen, and prepare ourselves a steaming cup of tea or coffee. Now, we’re not saying that everyone puts sugar in their tea or coffee. We’re merely suggesting that the grey area as far as “cheating” goes is a lot wider in this realm.

We Justify It

It’s easy to tell ourselves, “Don’t eat that slice of cake. You didn’t do anything to earn that.” Yep, we’re pretty cutthroat with ourselves when it comes to the “why” behind the reason we’re doing things. Which is why when it comes to tea or coffee, we’re able to justify a spoon or two or sugar because we tell ourselves, “This is necessary to keep me energized at work. It’s helping me make money, and provide for myself and my family.”

There’s nothing wrong with our justifications. But when you look back at the end of a month and wonder where all that sugar came from, you may do well to look past that occasional piece of cake and actually focus on those 10 cups of sweet coffee you drank last week.

Our morning habits are much more important than we usually think because they can set the tone for the day. If you’re trying to lose a few pounds or you simply want to maintain a healthy weight, here are a few healthy morning habits that can help you do just that.

Eat a High-Protein Breakfast

Our body needs protein for energy and muscle strength, but protein can also help control our appetite and reduce food cravings. That’s why eating a high-protein breakfast in the morning will make you feel full longer and can eventually lead to weight loss.

Switch up Your Commute

Instead of driving to work every day, try walking or riding a bike for a change in order to boost your metabolism and burn extra calories.

Pack Your Lunch

Eating healthy meals is crucial for people who want to lose weight, and that’s why packing your lunch and snacks can be really helpful. This way you’ll have more control over your diet because you’ll avoid eating unhealthy foods.

Squeeze in Some Exercise

Exercising regularly is also important for weight loss, so try to squeeze in a short workout first thing in the morning to feel better and energized.

Everyone is worried about gaining some weight when winter comes. That’s totally normal, since we tend to eat more and move less during winter. Check out these tips that’ll help you maintain your weight this winter season.

Don’t Deprive Yourself

The holiday season is upon us, and we all know how tempting holiday food is—so don’t try and deprive yourself of your favorite treats. Have a cookie or a piece of cake if you want, just don’t eat three servings because you really don’t need that.

Prepare Your Own Food

The best way to control what you eat is to prepare you own food. Winter is the perfect time to try and improve your cooking skills and experiment in the kitchen. Also try to focus on filling your plate with whole foods—such as beans, quinoa, nuts, fruits and veggies.

Move

If you already have a workout routine that’s working for you, then try to stick to it. Physical activity is even more important during winter months, so try to stay active throughout the day by doing some easy exercises at home or simply by going for a long walk every day.
