Watermelon is an essential summer treat, but most people can’t eat an entire watermelon in a single day. There are several different ways to store this refreshing fruit, and it’s up to you to pick the one that suits you best.

Storing Chopped Pieces

The most popular way of storing watermelon is by cutting it into small slices, and putting them inside an airtight container for three or four days. This method is especially practical if you have a small fridge and can’t fit large pieces inside.

Storing Large Pieces

Many people prefer cutting watermelon in halves or quarters because it loses its sweetness once it’s cut into smaller pieces. If that’s the case for you, make sure to use plastic wrap for wrapping each piece, so it wouldn’t pick up odors from other foods.

Freezing Watermelon

You can also freeze smaller watermelon slices for up to six months, but keep in mind they will be soft and mushy. You won’t enjoy eating them this way, but you can use them for smoothies, ice cream, and popsicles.
