Making your own breadcrumbs is an underrated skill to have in the kitchen. Most people assume that buying pre-made breadcrumbs is the best and easiest way to fulfill a need for them in a recipe, but the truth is that making your own is way better and tastier.

Let’s find out how to make a batch of deliciously herbed breadcrumbs!

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of white bread
  • 2 teaspoons rosemary
  • 2 teaspoons parsley
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.

Start off by taking the loaf of white bread and tearing it into small pieces. These should be a little bigger than what you imagine as a bread crumb because they will shrink in the oven. Place the crumbs into a large bowl.

When you have finished tearing the bread, go ahead and add all of the herbs to the bowl and mix well with your hands, ensuring that the herbs are “sticking to the bread.”

Place the bread pieces onto an oven dish lined with oven paper and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the bread is dried out.

Crumble further into a bowl, and voila! Your very own bread crumbs are finished.
