Learn How to Make the Perfect Italian Sub Sandwich

Italian subs hold a special place in the heart of sandwich lovers and it’s not hard to see why. This classic represents a perfect combination of meat, cheese, and veggies brought together by a soft hoagie bread roll.

A great thing about the Italian sub is that you can have fun with the ingredients, customize the sandwich to your taste, and still end up with a perfect snack. However, if you want to make it right and make it perfect, here is how to do it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 hoagie bread roll
  • 5 slices ham
  • 5 slices Genoa salami
  • 5 slices Mortadella
  • 5 slices Provolone cheese
  • 1 tomato
  • ½ red onion
  • Iceberg lettuce
  • Olive oil
  • Red wine vinegar
  • Salt and black pepper

Instructions

  1. The first thing you want to do is cut the hoagie bread roll lengthwise.
  2. Slice the onion and tomato into thin slices and chop the iceberg lettuce.
  3. Line the bottom of the hoagie bread roll with the sliced onion. Top with tomato slices and iceberg lettuce.
  4. You want to add a pinch of salt and a bit of black pepper. Next, drizzle the veggies with some olive oil and red wine vinegar.
  5. Now it’s time to get to the meat and cheese part of the sandwich. Take the top of the hoagie bread roll and line it with meat. The order is up to you. Then finish off with Provolone.
  6. All you need to do now is bring together the top and bottom of the hoagie bread roll and take a bite.
