How to Make Your Own Rosemary Focaccia Bread

Italy is home to some of the most delicious breads in the world, and if you don’t see yourself visiting this European country soon, you can make your own version of rosemary focaccia bread easily at home. Check out this delicious recipe below!

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/3 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons honey (or sugar)
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 cups flour (all-purpose)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (extra virgin if you have it) and some more for drizzling
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • Fresh rosemary

Instructions:

  1. Dissolve the yeast in warm water and add sugar or honey. Ideally, the water should be 110 F, and if you want to be precise, you can measure with a thermometer. Stir to combine everything and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Knead the dough with the mixer by gradually adding flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix on medium-low speed for 5 minutes.
  3. Let the dough rise by removing it from the bowl and shaping it into a ball with your hands, then greasing the bowl and putting the dough back to it. Let it sit in a warm location for an hour.
  4. After your dough has doubled in size, put it on a lightly floured surface and roll it out to make a large circle (or rectangle, depending on the dish you’re going to use). Cover it with a damp towel and leave for another 20 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400 F. Put the dough onto a parchment-covered baking sheet and poke some dents with your fingers. Drizzle some olive oil over the top of the dough and sprinkle with some sea salt and fresh rosemary.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes or until your dough is golden and evenly cooked.
