Want to have the best pizza in the world? Then you will need to head to Caserta, Italy, or New York City, U.S.A. That is at least according to 50 Top Pizza, a famous pizza guide that just released its list of best pizzerias in the world for 2022.
The 50 Top Pizza spent the previous year visiting all numerous pizza joints across the world in hopes of finding out which one makes the best pizza. Unsurprisingly, they couldn’t agree on the best of the best, so there are two pizzerias that are ranked No.1 in this year’s guide. Let’s check out the top five below.
No.1 – I Masanielli (Caserta, Italy)
Owned and run by Francesco Martucci, I Masanielli is described as a “highly-frequented destination for gourmet pizza enthusiasts. “The place is praised for its dough, precise baking, and “interesting combinations of top-quality raw materials. “
No.1 – Una Pizza Napoletana (New York City, U.S.)
If you are not in the mood for flying to Italy for a pizza, you can find the world’s best pizza in New York City as well. Anthony Mangieri’s Una Pizza Napoletana is renowned for its “selection of fresh and quality products, “great service, and mouthwatering take on thick-crust pizza.
No.3 – Peppe Pizzeria (Paris, France)
You wouldn’t traditionally think that France has great pizza, but Peppe Pizzeria is there to show you otherwise. Ranked third on the 50 Top Pizza list, the place is praised for its fried pizzas as well as unusual yet amazing combinations like mortadella and pistachio or truffle and hazelnuts.
No.4 – 50 Kalo (Naples, Italy)
You couldn’t really expect any serious pizza ranking not to have a pizza joint from Naples in the top five. According to the guide, 50 Kalo pizzas have “perfect, melty and fragrant,” dough that is topped with “tasty and well-balanced toppings that are a result of a careful selection of ingredients.”
No.5 – Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria (Naples, Italy)
Double down on Naples pizza. The top five is wrapped up by 10 Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria, which offers pizzas with “light dough” topped with “top-quality ingredients and oils that valorize the well-balanced flavors.”
