Fast and Easy Pico de Gallo for Every Occasion

Pico de gallo is a type of Mexican salsa that should be part of everyone’s cooking arsenal. It is one of those things that come in handy on every occasion. Whether you are making some tacos or burritos, looking for a simple side dish, or just something to dip your chips in, pico de gallo has your back.

Besides being tasty and refreshing, pico de gallo is also fast and easy to make. You’ll spend less than 10 minutes in the kitchen and a batch of this Mexican goodness will already be ready. Check out how to make it.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large tomatoes
  • 1 large white onion
  • 1 chili pepper (serrano or jalapeno)
  • 1 lime 
  • 1 bunch of cilantro

Instructions:

  1. Clean the onion and dice it. The smaller, the better.
  2. Move the chopped onion to a bowl and squeeze the lime to get all of the lime juice out. You can also add a bit of zest for tangier flavor.
  3. Finely chop the tomatoes, chili pepper, and cilantro. Follow the same rule as with the onion, meaning the finer chop, the better pico de gallo (Note: If you don’t want pico de gallo to be too hot, remove the seeds from the chili pepper before chopping).
  4. Combine the chopped tomatoes, chili pepper, and cilantro in a bowl with onions. Salt to taste.
  5. Give it a good mix, and then try the pico de gallo. See if you would like it to be saltier and/or tangier. Add more salt or lime juice if that’s the case.
  6. Enjoy.
