When a craving for something sweet strikes, but you find yourself at home with minimal ingredients, give this nut butter spread recipe a try. It’s versatile in that it can be made with whatever butter you’ve got on hand, and it only requires three total ingredients. Try peanut butter for its flavor or almond butter for something neutral. Tahini’s great for something exotic and cashew butter for something rich. If you’re feeling spicy, add a shake of cinnamon. For something extra caramelly, add vanilla beans. Spread it on rice cakes, toast, or eat it with fresh fruit. It’s also delicious on its own—eat it with a spoon, we won’t judge.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of your choice of nut butter
  • 2 teaspoons of maple syrup
  • Pinch (about ⅛ of a teaspoon) of sea salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon of add-ins such as cinnamon or vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Add nut butter, maple syrup, salt, and desired add-ins to a small bowl and mix until just combined, be careful not to overstir as the mixture will become quite stiff.
  2. Spread on snacks of your choice and enjoy!
  3. Store leftover spread in a covered, airtight container for up to one week.
