Choco Tacos are Now a Thing of the Past

If you grew up indulging in Choco Tacos, we have some sad news to share…

The sweet treat found in many an ice cream truck has been symbolic of summer for almost four decades. The crunchy waffle cone, folded into the shape of a taco shell, was coated on the inside with chocolate and filled with ice cream. On top were a hardened chocolate and peanut shell that cracked as you bit into it. The Choco Taco was everything you wanted a freezer ice cream to be, but it has now been discontinued.

“We’ve experienced an unprecedented spike in demand across our portfolio and have had to make very tough decisions to ensure availability of our full portfolio. A necessary but unfortunate part of this process is that we sometimes must discontinue products — we’re so sorry!”, tweeted Klondike who produced the product.

Some have attempted to save the Choco Taco. Co-founder of Reddit, Alexis Ohanian, tweeted Klondike’s parent company Unilever, saying: “I’d like to buy the rights to your Choco Taco and keep it from melting away from future generations’ childhoods.”

Even Taste of Home had a lovely memorial to the delicious treat.

Here’s to hoping the Chaco Taco returns!
