Gnocchi is a fun alternative to pasta and is a great canvas for your favorite sauce. These potato dumplings cook in minutes so you’ll have time to give your sauce some extra attention. Here are three ideas to check out.

Creamy Gorgonzola Sauce

To make this sauce, melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add heavy cream and crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, stirring gently until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens slightly. Season with black pepper and nutmeg. Pour the sauce over your cooked gnocchi and enjoy the warm and creamy flavors.

Tomato Basil Sauce

For this timeless classic, start by sauteing minced garlic in olive oil until fragrant. Add diced tomatoes (fresh or canned), simmering until they break down and form a thick sauce. Stir in chopped fresh basil, salt, and a pinch of red pepper flakes for a hint of heat, and enjoy.

Brown Butter Sage Sauce

Begin by melting butter in a skillet over medium heat until it starts to brown and emit a nutty aroma. Add fresh sage leaves to the browned butter, frying them until crispy. Remove the sage leaves and set them aside. Drizzle the fragrant brown butter over your cooked gnocchi and enjoy the buttery goodness.

Do you also keep hearing about the nutritional and delicious benefits of Japanese Soba noodles? In the following article, you’ll find everything you need to know about these yummy noodles.

Soba is a type of thin, grayish Japanese noodles made from buckwheat flour.

Since these noodles are made from pure buckwheat flour, they can easily break down while boiling. This is why it is customary to mix wheat flour with buckwheat flour. In Japan, agricultural standards require noodles to contain at least 30% buckwheat flour to be named Soba, and the larger the amount of buckwheat flour, the more desirable and high-quality the noodles.

The noodle dough is spread out on a surface, rolled, and finally cut with a special knife.

In Japan, Soba noodles are served on a variety of occasions. They are cheap noodles that can be bought at a stall at the train station, but at the same time they are served in upscale restaurants.

In the markets, you can buy dried noodles that can be cooked at home, along with an easy-to-prepare sauce.

Soba goes great with tempura vegetables, and a light soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and ginger.

December is coming up soon, and if you have a beer lover in your life—there’s a present you should be considering this holiday season.

Homebrewing beer has become all the rage recently, as tools and ingredients necessary for making suds from the comfort of your own home have started to become more widely available for personal use.

One of the best ways to start with this exciting tradition is to get a homebrewing kit—a new tool companies have begun to put on the market that gives you everything you need to make beer at home.

Brewing beer is a process that requires yeast, hops, and grain along with water to begin the process of fermentation and the elaboration of a delicious beer. You’ll get all of these things—along with a fermentation tank that allows for this process to happen—when buying a kit.

There are kits with ingredients for all kinds of beers—from Belgian ales to IPAs—meaning you can choose one which best fits the tastes of your loved one.

So, be sure to keep a homebrewing kit in mind this holiday season when thinking about what to buy your beer-loving loved ones!

Have you ever had the fortune of eating at a Michelin-starred restaurant before? The Michelin Guide—a prestigious French restaurant service that grades restaurants all around the world—awards stars to some of the top restaurants on Earth.

So what exactly are the criteria that make Michelin-starred restaurants so special and a cut above the rest? Here are three distinguishing qualities of these fantastic eateries.

Quality of Service

Excellent service is one of the hallmarks of Michelin-starred eateries. At these restaurants, the waitstaff doubles as a group of experts on the foods and drinks that will be served to you. They’ll be able to tell you all you need to know about your order, and they’ll be waiting on you with perfect attention to detail in order to make your experience positive.

Quality of Food

Obviously, the food that is served at Michelin-starred restaurants is a cut above the food served elsewhere. The magazine rewards restaurants that use quality ingredients and turn them into flavorful, creative dishes customers love.

Consistent Excellence

Michelin staff consistently visit their starred restaurants to ensure the excellence provided—both in food and drink and in service—is maintained consistently. This is done to guarantee to customers that, no matter what day they go, they’ll be treated to a special experience.

The beautiful city of Ohrid, Macedonia, is known for its natural wonders, fascinating churches and delicious traditional food. One of these staple dishes is gjomleze, a traditional Macedonian dish that is an important symbol of the Ohrid cuisine. The name comes from the Turkish word for waffle, but present day gjomleze has nothing to do with waffles.

Gjomleze has only three ingredients: flour, water and salt. You might think that creating something so good using only three basic ingredients is impossible, and you will be somewhat right. The “secret” touch is actually the way you cook gjomleze. You must bake it in an extremely hot stone oven covered with charcoal, because otherwise it’s not worth the bother.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BzkWu0rH7XG/

But, when you do it right, when you find the right balance of numerous layers of flaky, crispy dough and discreet burns on the top, and accompany it with a glass of cold kefir, you will find that gjomleze is something so incredibly satisfying yet so simple – and that’s exactly where its charm lies.

A tip when ordering gjomleze: always stick to the simple stuff. Don’t go for the tourist’s trap and order gjomleze filled with this or that. Enjoy it plain, the way the old wise folks intended.

Have you ever heard of Galicia before?

Tucked in the northwest corner of the Iberian Peninsula is a little-known Spanish region that is full of delicious bites and drinks. As the home of world-renowned treats such as albarino wine and empanadas, Galicia has a lot to offer for such a small place.

However, if there’s one product for which Galicia is internationally recognized, it’s seafood. The Atlantic Ocean that surrounds Galicia stocks its ports with some of the best fish and shellfish known to man.

The story starts with Vigo, the largest city in Galicia and the second-largest fishing port in the world behind Tokyo’s. Here, fishermen and women unload their catches of seafood and fish from the amazingly productive Rias Baixas area. This southwestern part of Galicia has a coastline whose water temperature and nutrient-rich waters produce an ideal place for the catch and raising of seafood such as mussels.

Another delicacy in Galicia is octopus. While some might be squeamish at the prospect of eating the tentacles of this creature, the Galician preparation which includes olive oil, smoked paprika, and boiled octopus is absolutely fantastic.

Whether you love cod, sea-bream, scallops, mussels, or crabs, Galicia is a seafood paradise that you absolutely must visit.

The famous coffee chain isn’t the only one to put an end to plastic straw use. McDonald’s in the U.K. also promised to do this and IKEA went a step further. The Swedish furniture store will ban all the signle-use plastic items like straws, plates, and garbage bags both from their stores and the accompanying restaurants.

Kroger, one of the largest grocery chains in the U.S., claims they will completely stop offering single-use plastic bags by 2025.
