No dish experienced a bigger surge in popularity in the last few months than banana bread. Everyone’s been trying to perfect their own recipe at home, and if you feel like yours is missing something, make sure to avoid these common mistakes.

Not Measuring Your Flour

Putting too much or too little flour could ruin your banana bread. Your loaf will end up too dry or too jiggly depending on which direction you take, so make sure to carefully follow the recipe and use measuring cups meant for dry ingredients.

Using Underripe Bananas

You can’t make a good loaf of bread with bananas that you’ve just bought. They have to be ripe enough, so you could have an easier time mashing them together. Your bread will be much tastier if you decide to use ripe bananas.

Overmixing the Batter

If you want to end up with a delicious, fluffy loaf of banana bread, make sure you’re not overmixing the batter. Gluten develops as you mix your ingredients, and your bread could be tough and rubbery if you overdo it.
