It’s hard to give up desserts completely. Just because you’re eating healthier doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy desserts. All you have to do is swap some ingredients and add others to make it more nutritious. Not only will the desserts be healthier, but they’ll also taste even better. Here are five ways to enjoy dessert, guilt-free.

Use Pureed Avocado Instead of Butter

There’s not much nutritional value in butter, so try replacing it with pureed avocado. You’ll be adding healthy fats, fiber, and nutrients to the baked good.

Add Chickpeas

Sure, chickpeas aren’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think of desserts, but they taste great in blondies, cookies, and brownies. You’ll be adding more fiber, protein, and other nutrients to the dessert.

Add Walnuts

Walnuts taste amazing in anything with chocolate, especially brownies. They’ll add a crunch to your dessert as well as fiber and other nutrients.

Swap Empty Carbs with Nutrient-Rich Ones

Desserts get a bad rep because they’re loading with empty carbs, but instead of using white flour, used almond or coconut ones which have more fiber and protein.

Reduce the Sugar

There’s really no need to have tons of sugar in baked goods. Most of the time they’re too sweet ad you can cut the sugar down by a third.
